2006 Temporary placement three days per week over four weeks looking after one 4 year old boy while his mother worked from home.  This required me to keep the boy fully engaged with entertaining activities while at home and take him on excursions away from the house thus allowing his mother uninterrupted work time. And also included the provision of nutritious snacks and meals.

2006 Temporary placement of 3 days at a childcare facility to relieve staff as needed.  In this role I worked with both the toddlers and in the baby room and required me to assist staff with supervision, feeding, toileting, helping to setup activities and cleaning up after the children.

2006  Fourteen weeks (500 hours) of practical placement with early childhood centres and families:

Christopher and Robin Early Childhood Centre (3 weeks)

And, repaired the vacuum cleaner.

Glover family:  (2 weeks – live in)
Two children aged 4 and 14 months.
Whilst with the Glover family I changed nappies, bathed and dressed the children, prepared family meals and snacks – taking the youngest child’s special food needs into consideration (she had allergies), organised activities and did home management tasks required of me.

Motuora Special Needs Unit – Red Beach School (1 week)
During my time at Motuora I was responsible for assisting in the feeding of the children, encouraging participation of activities, assisting staff with stimulation of children’s senses using touch with various objects to music, cleaning and generally being of assistance in any way I could.

2006  Nannied the Shribman-Brown family’s 11-year-old daughter overnight.  This required me to ensure that the child was up and ready in time to catch the bus to school, be there when she arrived home from school, prepare nutritious snacks and meals, and organise entertaining activities for her during the day on Saturday and that she went to bed according to her parents instructions.

2005 Live in relationship with 11-year-old step-son (fulltime) and 12-year-old step-daughter (part time).  My role as step-parent included getting the children ready for school, preparing nutritious meals and snacks, assisting with homework, organising entertaining activities, ensuring housework was done and school uniforms cleaned and ready to wear.

OTHER WORK EXPERIENCE

1989 – 2006  Prior to commencing the NZ National Nanny Certificate course I have held various Customer Service and Help Desk Support roles.  In these roles I was responsible for face to face and over the phone customer service.
